A President for Fairford
In June 2014, the Fairford and District Choral Society was delighted to announce that the distinguished musician
Adrian Partington had accepted the honorary post of President. He said "I am very pleased to accept
the post and will help the Society in any way I can."
Adrian Partington is a conductor, chorus master and solo organist and pianist of international
standing and in addition to conducting amateur choirs such as the Gloucester and Bristol Choral
Societies also conducts the BBC National Chorus of Wales and has worked with world class orchestras
such as the Berlin Philharmonic and the Philharmonia and with maestros Simon Rattle and Richard
Hickox among many others.
John Read, then conductor of the Fairford and District Choral Society, said "We are honoured to have Adrian Partington
as our President. It was his workshop on the Bach St John Passion which gave us the confidence to put on
our recent performance of this masterpiece with a professional orchestra and soloists. We greatly look
forward to further workshops with him and the benefit of his advice on a broad range of choral matters
from time to time."
